Our Story

The idea for Renegade Coffee came about when Kris, the owner, was talking with her kids about what her next business venture should be. Kris has been an entrepreneur for most of her life and was looking for a new challenge and adventure. One of her kids suggested the need for a better coffee shop in their neighborhood. The idea hit home with Kris given her love of coffee and interest in the business. That started the journey that led to the opening of Renegade Coffee Company.

After much research and work the perfect location to begin Renegade was found in the Park Scottsdale neighborhood. The neighborhood is full of great people and many great local businesses and schools. And there was a drive through location available. All that was left was to come up with a name for the new shop. The inspiration for the name came from music, specifically a Thomas Rhett song called Renegades. Renegade Coffee sounds fun, a little edgy , but not too edgy, and it fit the look and feel that was envisioned for the new coffee shop. So, in 2018 Renegade Coffee Company opened its doors with the goal to serve great local coffee and made to order food to our neighbors.

Renegade Coffee Company takes great pride in being part of the neighborhood. We actively support all of our area schools and many non-profits in our area. Whether it’s letting a group host a meeting in our shop, making a donation for a fundraiser, or allowing a group of kids to host a car wash in our parking lot, Renegade strives to give back to our neighbors.

In 2021, Renegade found its second great neighborhood to join in Mesa on Alma School and University. The second shop opened at the very end of 2021 just in time to ring in the New Year.  The people have been great so far and we look forward to meeting more of our neighbors.
